KSA stands for Katagum Students’ Association The association was formed in 1958 with few members (students) of Barewa College, Zaria and in line with the formation of Zazzau Students’ Association. Some of the members of the association who were students of Barewa at that time were Prof. Dauda Bagari, Baba Barnoma, Mohammed Yusuf (Baba Gadau), Dahiru Saleh, Ada Madara, Nayaya Katagum, Abdu Ibrahim and Adamu Aliyu.


At the formative stage of the association, its focus were not political but mainly on social activities like cultural and debating to improve the lots ofits members.

KSA started at Barewa College, Zaria sometimes in 1956 when some of the students from Katagum division decided to come together and form an association inline with what was obtained in Zaria that is Zazzau Students Association.

KSA thus came into existence in 1958 and started with few members, mostly from Barewa College, Zaria.

Prof. Dauda Bagari was privileged as a senior colleague to be asked to become the President of the association thus becoming the first President of the KSA, Dahiru Saleh, Secretary, Nayayu Katagum, Treasurer and all other seven was the association during that time.

The activities at that time were very good, because the excos have love of the association and have good ideas for it’s progress.

AIMS

The aim and objective of the association is to foster unity and brotherhood among its members.
To initiate programmes that will enhance the development of members of the association in particular and the emirate as a whole.

In its 50th years’ ofexistence, KSA has produced great men and women who have participated in the process of either shaping or directing the affairs of this great country.

Prof. Dauda Bagari was the first President of KSA, 1958-59.
